Oracle & Sun – finally

So, it seems finally this is agreed and approved by the EU commission.
The New York Post states:
„According to a person with direct knowledge of the talks, European Commissioner Neelie Kroes approved the deal after Oracle agreed to fund the open database software, dubbed MySQL, for the next three years at more than $24 million annually.“

  1. Even if EU mood is rather positive after the hearings last week, the procedure is now to send an advisory letter to all members states and collect feedback. Do not expect any new official statement from EU before mid january at earliest.

    You might be, many aren’t. As a former Sun employee, I know a lot of my former colleagues who would rather stay independent, even if that means Sun dying a natural death, remembering all the good times, and moving on. Working for a boring middleware company really won’t inspire the creative brilliance that Sun employees are renowned for.
